Instrumentation Tech, SR Electronics

Position Purpose:
Under minimum supervision fabricates, installs, calibrates, validates, and maintains data acquisition systems in support of Flight Test engineerings data collection for aircraft certification nd product improvements. Performs a variety of duties with minimal assistance in the electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical fields in Flight Test. Duties include installation, checkout, calibrations, validations, maintenance, and operation of instrumentation and data acquisition systems in support of flight and ground testing for research, development, and certification of Gulfstream aircraft.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:
  1. Fabricates and installs electrical harnesses and instrumentation components per flight test engineering via drawings with minimal direction.
  2. Performs checkouts, calibrations, and validations of instrumentation installations.
  3. Maintains data acquisition system equipment and wiring.
  4. Operates test equipment for data acquisition. Performs data system preflight test procedures.
  5. Troubleshoots and repairs all aircraft instrumentation systems and their respective components pertaining to acquisition signal conditioners, recorders, video equipment, telemetry systems and associated wiring.

Work typically requires a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits. Perform such tasks as making circuit analyzes, and tracing relationships in signal flow. Use complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices, may provide technical guidance.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, repair manuals, understanding symbols, flags, and general notes - Identify aircraft locations by station, butt-line, and waterline as shown on engineering documentation and technical orders

Regularly required to perform repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist.
Work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean, FOD-free work area

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking an Aircraft Electronics Technician for an open position in Lexington, KY.
Job Description:
  • Perform avionics and electrical installs on H-60 Blackhawk helicopters.
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft electrical and avionics systems of moderate difficulty at the organizational or depot maintenance level.
  • Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds electrical system wiring, connectors, and components using hand tools, power tools, and applicable test equipment.
  • Fabricate harness and electrical assemblies.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to accomplish installs.
  • Work under close supervision receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician.
  • Work is checked frequently for accuracy.




Mandatory Skills:
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance, or within (2) years.
  • Experience in repairing, replacing, and rebuilding electrical system wiring, connectors, and components using hand tools, power tools. and applicable test equipment.
  • Experience in utilizing electrical test equipment such as digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
  • Must be proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, engineering drawings and technical manuals.
  • Must be able to work 1st or 2nd shift or travel as required by program schedule and customer requirements.


Potential for up to 20 hours/week of overtime.

Desired Skills:
  • Minimum 3 years experience installing and testing of aircraft electrical / avionics systems.
  • Successful completion of a military or civilian equivalent electrical / avionics training course.
  • Must be proficient in reading and interpreting schematics, engineering drawings and technical manuals / technical orders.
  • Aircraft Maintenance Experience .
  • Documented Military/DOD Service School or Civilian/FAA equivalent training desired.

Job Description:
  • This SOW is for a RF/ Digital Electronics Test Technician for the Product Test organization at the MST-Owego, NY facility.
  • This job requires knowledge of digital, analog, and RF electronics with basic RF theory in the Gigahertz range.
  • Personal characteristics must include flexibility, adaptability, a self-starter requiring minimal direct supervision, able to work both individually and as part of a team, and able to interact and work well with employees and internal customers.





Mandatory Skills:
  • The resume MUST demonstrate work knowledge in the following 5 points
  • Testing and troubleshooting of digital, analog, and RF components, circuit card assemblies and higher level units and systems that are used in military products and platforms.
  • Diagnostics and troubleshooting down to the component level.
  • Use of Hewlett Packard / Agilent network analyzers and spectrum analyzers.
  • Use of power meters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes and multi-meters.
  • Performing fine work and visual examination under a microscope.


Other required work skills are:
  • Setup test apparatus and conduct tests of electronic assemblies and units following defined methods, procedures, standards, and sequences.
  • Layout and assemble units for production electronic equipment according to designs and specifications.
  • Adjust and calibrate systems as required.
  • Determine types of tests to be performed.
  • Use various measuring and testing devices in performing job duties.
  • Approve and suggest modifications to testing equipment, and analyze test results to evaluate performance of products and equipment.
  • Assist engineers in design and development of test procedures for new products and recommend product improvements or manufacturing modifications.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with established quality control procedures.
  • The subcontract employee must have an Associate of Science (AS) degree from an accredited college in electrical engineering technology or equivalent technical training along with 2 years minimum experience in electronics testing and hardware debug.




Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of how to make VSWR & cable loss measurements in high frequency range. 2) Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc
