AgustaWestland Recognized for Support of National Guard and Reservists

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, was presented with the Patriot award by the Pennsylvania Committee for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for “outstanding support of our brave men and women serving in the Guard or Reserve.”

“On behalf of AgustaWestland Philadelphia, I thank the Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and the Reserve for this award, but most importantly, I thank our employees who serve or have served in our military,” says AgustaWestland Philadelphia CEO Bill Hunt. “We support and encourage the commitments of our servicemen and women, who bring to AgustaWestland the leadership, critical thinking, and decision making skills that make them successful both in business and the military.”

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense office, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment. ESGR is supported by a network of more than 4,900 volunteers in 54 committees located across all 50 states.

AgustaWestland Philadelphia operates out of a 275,000 square foot facility, on a 39-acre site at Northeast Philadelphia Airport in Pennsylvania, providing employment for over 590 people. AgustaWestland North America, the company’s US government business unit, is located in Arlington, VA.

Over 30 percent of the company’s US employees are current or former service members.

The Philadelphia facility also includes final assembly lines for the AW119Kx and AW139 helicopters, a parts supply depot for the Americas and a fully approved FAA and JAA repair station. AgustaWestland Philadelphia also performs helicopter customization, has a delivery center for AW109 Power and GrandNew aircraft, and provides maintenance services for customer aircraft based in the local area.
