Erickson Subcontracted to Refurbish MH-53E Helicopters for U.S. Navy

Erickson Incorporated (NASDAQ:EAC), a global provider of aviation services, is selected as a subcontractor by Adams Communication & Engineering Technologies (ACET) for the refurbishment of two MH-53E helicopters, in support of the United States Navy Heavy Lift Helicopter Program.

“Erickson is pleased to partner with ACET in support of this project,” says Jeff Roberts, president and CEO of Erickson. “We take great pride in assisting the U.S. Navy to enhance their fleet capabilities.”

The contract is for the return of two MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopters to service which requires multiple stages of a complex refurbishment schedule. The award is for one base year, with an optional year. This is the first contract awarded by the U.S. Navy for a depot-level maintenance event of a MH-53E helicopter to a commercial contractor, according to Kerry Jarandson, Erickson’s vice president of MRO and Manufacturing.

The MH-53E Sea Dragon is one of the largest helicopters in the United States Navy. It is a key platform for enabling the United States to carry out critical defense missions, supporting freedom and preserving lives.

Erickson’s expertise in manufacturing capabilities and legacy aircraft support, including large Sikorsky-designed rotorcraft, positioned the company for the award. Familiarity with Sikorsky drawing and specification systems on the S64 equated to direct relevant experience on the S65 (H-53), as the designs on both systems were created in the same period.

The contract work will be performed at Erickson’s Medford, OR, facilities, beginning this month. The 28,750 square-foot hangar on the Rogue Valley International Airport is well known for its expertise in supporting S-64 and other aircraft operations around the world.
