Vice President/General Manager Announced for the Aviation Division of Technology for Energy Corporation

Technology for Energy Corporation (TEC) announces Marvin T. (Tom) Smoot, Jr. as vice president and general manager of its Aviation Division, with offices in Knoxville, TN and San Diego, CA.

Smoot leads a team of skilled engineers and aviation professionals in the manufacturing of ACES Systems/Dynamic Instruments aircraft maintenance and test monitoring equipment. TEC Aviation Division currently sells its ACES Systems/Dynamic Instrument products as commercial off the shelf (COTS) aviation test kits in the general and government/military aviation markets with approximately 4,000 kits installed worldwide. Smoot also drives TEC Aviation Division’s growth and business strategy plans.

Smoot served for 35 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a brigadier general in August 2011. He commanded Air Force units at the squadron, group and wing levels and served staff tours in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, the Air Staff, three major commands, and the Air Force Personnel Center. In 1998, he served as a deputy commander in the Pacific theater for three months on the first U.S. Aor Force Air Expeditionary Force deployment to provide precision air strike capability from Kwang Ju, South Korea. In 2007 he was selected by the Secretary of Defense to be the Executive Director of his Independent Review Group to report on rehabilitative care and administrative processes at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center.

His last assignment in the Air Force was as the Commandant, Joint Forces Staff College, National Defense University, Norfolk, VA.
