Two AgustaWestland AW189 super-medium, twin-engine helicopters operated by Bel Air of Denmark exceed 6000 flight hours as of January, setting a new milestone while demonstrating exceptional availability and mission effectiveness performing long-range, offshore, transport missions in the North Sea. The result was possible through the cooperation of the operator and Leonardo’s customer support team. 

Alpine Aerotech announces that it has officially secured Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) STCs for its Tailboom Baggage Protection Kit, specifically designed for Bell 205, 212, and 412 helicopters.

Airbus Helicopters, Inc. and Precise Flight, Inc. announce approval of the amended supplemental type certificate (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Pulselite® Bird Strike Prevention System. This approval comes as an amendment to STC SH3319NM, bringing the total number of Airbus rotorcraft models certified for the Pulselite® System to 67. This includes all EC135, H-135, EC145, H145, and AS350 models.

Aircraft Propeller Service, LLC (APS, www.aircraftpropeller.com, Lake Zurich, IL), a commercial propeller maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service, is now repairing helicopter servo actuators. The announcement comes after APS was selected as a licensee for the components’ OEM in a recent competition.

Rotor blade manufacturer Van Horn Aviation (VHA) is taking several steps to minimize downtime due to overhauls on the company’s composite 206B main rotor blades. In addition to working with several composite rotor blade repair stations around the world to provide authorization for main blade overhauls, VHA is also conducting fatigue tests to increase the time between overhauls (TBO) to 5,000 hours.

Airbus Helicopters delivers 418 rotorcraft in 2016, a five percent increase compared with 2015, against a challenging market backdrop. The company strengthens its lead on the civil and parapublic helicopter market while maintaining its position on the military market.

(NYSE: TXT) company, announces the completion of the first fully customized aircraft from its new European state-of-the-art customization and delivery center located in Prague. The customer, Air Transport Europe of Slovakia, recently accepted three newly customized Bell 429 EMS-configured aircraft at Bell Helicopter’s delivery center in Prague.

Air Evac Lifeteam’s continued commitment to safety is validated by the FAA when its safety management system is awarded the designation of “Active Conformance.” This is the highest status an SMS can achieve.

Robinson Helicopter Company delivers an R44 Cadet to the University of North Dakota (UND). This is the first Cadet to be used in UND’s prestigious flight training program.

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) and Truth Data, a cloud-based flight data monitoring company, are helping helicopter operators improve the safety, performance and efficiency of their helicopters through the use of data. A recently signed memorandum of understanding allows for Truth Data to sell Honeywell’s Sky Connect Tracker III system for improved helicopter communications and tracking and for Honeywell to provide Truth Data services to operators looking to leverage the information produced by their helicopters for smarter, safer operations.

RUAG Aviation secures Authorized Service Center status for the Leonardo AW139 helicopter at its locations in Sion and Lugano, Switzerland. This authorization confirms RUAG Aviation as a full-support partner for the AW139 helicopter, including all maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), as well as warranty services.

Med-Trans Corporation, a national air medical transport provider, bases a Bell 407 GPX air ambulance helicopter in Baldwin County, AL, in partnership with Medstar Emergency Medical Services. Flying with the name Medstar Air Care 1, Medstar EMS provides paramedics for the crews, while Med-Trans provides the helicopter, pilots and nurses.

TRAXXALL Technologies, provider of an innovative aircraft maintenance tracking and inventory management system, announces that it will open a new office in Jacksonville, FL.

Colombia's civil aviation authority, Unidad Administrativa Especial de Aeronáutica Civil (UAEAC), approves the Offshore and Utility type certificate for Sikorsky's S-76C™ series (C, C+, C++), S-76D™ and S-92A® helicopters. The certificate enables Colombia's commercial aviation operators to add the multi-role helicopters for transportation of workers or cargo to offshore oil and gas rigs, as well as regional airline passenger service and VIP transportation.

Garmin International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), announces that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted supplemental type certification (STC) for the installation of the GTX 345 ADS-B In/Out and GTX 335 ADS-B Out transponders in an approved model List (AML) of Part 27 helicopters.

Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company (NYSE: LMT), celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the S-92® helicopter operating in China. Sikorsky made the announcement at Booth #H6E1 during Airshow China.

Associated Aircraft Group, the Northeast’s largest premier executive Sikorsky S-76® helicopter service, announces the continued expansion of its helicopter management program with the addition of three Sikorsky S-76 helicopters. The announcement was made at the National Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition. AAG is a subsidiary of Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company (NYSE: LMT).

Spectrum Aeromed announces that the company’s medical interior was installed on an Augusta Westland AW139 for Ornge, the air-ambulance service provider in the Canadian province of Ontario. The helicopter was deployed to a remote base located in Moosonee, Ontario, Canada.
