Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announces a signed letter of intent with Guangxi Diwang Group for 10 Bell 525 Relentless super-medium helicopters. Guangxi Diwang Group will use the Bell 525s for tourism and search-and-rescue missions. Guangxi Diwang Group is a commercial development and real estate investor.

Enstrom believes a Feb. 12 accident demonstrates the ruggedness of its N180TH's design and the ability of the aircraft to protect the occupants. While flying, the prototype TH-180 experienced a mechanical problem and made a forced landing. During the landing, the rotor struck a wooden utility pole, cutting off the pole and destroying the main rotor blades. Preliminary investigation indicates that a piece of flight test instrumentation in the main drive system failed, disconnecting the engine from the drive train. The pilot, the only person on board, was uninjured.

Vector Aerospace (www.vectoraerospace.com), a global independent provider of aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, announces that it has been awarded a contract to perform 12-year inspections on three Airbus Helicopters AS350 B3 AStars operated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD). Vector will conduct these inspections at its facilities in Langley, BC, Canada over the next two years. In addition to the AS350 B3 airframe inspections and subsequent aircraft repaint, Vector will also overhaul two Turbomeca Arriel 2B1 turboshafts for the SBCSD at its facility in Richmond, BC, Canada.
