Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, and Turbomeca (Safran, Euronext Paris: SAF), announce that Turbomeca has received EASA engine type certification for its Arrius 2R engine that powers the Bell 505 Jet Ranger X.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today announces a streamlined and user-friendly web-based aircraft registration process for owners of small unmanned aircraft (UAS) weighing more than 0.55 pounds (250 grams) and less than 55 pounds (approx. 25 kilograms) including payloads such as on-board cameras.

PAC International (Paradigm Aerospace Corporation) completes tactical communication radio system upgrades on the first of two Fairfax County Bell 429s. PAC is updating the aircraft from the original Technisonic TDFM 7000/RC7000 equipment installed during the original completion to the new TDFM 9000/RC9000 system.

Erickson Facilities Approved for the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of the Bell 214B and 214ST Helicopters

Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announces today it secured commitments from two customers for a Bell 429 and Bell 407GX in corporate configuration while at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Convention and Exhibition in Las Vegas, NV.

Airbus Helicopters successfully completes the first flight test of its high-compression engine demonstrator aircraft at Marignane Airport. The development and flight test of this new technology demonstrator is part of the European Clean Sky initiative’s Green Rotorcraft Integrated Technology Demonstrator (ITD) program, with support for these flight tests provided by the consortium of TEOS Powertrain Engineering and Austro Engine GmbH.

Finmeccanica-AgustaWestland announces that Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) has agreed to acquire 15 helicopters from the AW family, comprising of the AW169 light intermediate, AW139 intermediate and AW189 super medium twin types. The aircraft are scheduled to be delivered from 2016 through to 2019 and will be used for a variety of missions, including offshore transport.

Garmin announces installation of its GNC 255 NAV/COM and GTR 225 COM series is easier and more cost-effective for European-registered helicopters. This certification reduces installation time and the cost associated with the installation of the GTR/GNC radios in a wide variety of helicopter types in Europe. Additionally, Helicopter operators are offered an economical solution to meet the requirements of 8.33 kHz channel spacing, which is required under the Single European Sky (SES) initiative by December 31, 2017.

The U.S. Coast Guard has contracted with Breeze-Eastern Corporation to provide new hydraulic hoist controllers for its MH-65 search and rescue fleet. The contract provides for deliveries over the next three years, with early deliveries acceptable and encouraged. Breeze-Eastern, the aerospace industry’s only dedicated hoist and winch specialist, receives this production contract after the completion of the design, development and qualification prototype contract.

Vector Aerospace, a global independent provider of aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul services, announces its completion of a modification and upgrade for the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department’s Bell 212 aircraft. Modifications to this aircraft include avionics, airframe, and tailboom structural modifications required for the installation of a new Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6T-3DF Twin Pac®. Vector also completed a 100 hour return to service inspection and applied full exterior paint to the SBCSD’s specifications.

Airbus Helicopters announces it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the LOM PRAHA s.p. for a future cooperation in the field of helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul. The agreement also covers national customization, service and support, training and the potential to extend the activities to future export business.

Garmin announces expanded availability of its comprehensive obstacle database to now include Canada for select Garmin portables and certified avionics. Man-made structures such as towers that are greater than 200 feet AGL are included within this database. Additionally, an obstacle database tailored to helicopter operators includes man-made structures that are greater than 10 feet AGL.

Collateral Verifications is engaged as sales agent for an extensive inventory of new and serviceable spare parts supporting the Bell Huey UH-1, Cobra AH-1 and Boeing Chinook CH-47 platforms, as well as multiple complete UH-60 and UH-1 helicopters. The helicopters and inventory are owned by Arista Aviation Services, LLC. According to the agreement, CV will market the helicopters and parts worldwide to friendly nations, operators and spares distributors.

All Metal MS announces its delivery of a line of MH-60 Jayhawk maintenance stands and hangar equipment to the United States Coast Guard’s Clearwater, FL facility. The custom "Safety First" maintenance stands, door racks, cowling racks, blade racks and work tables were designed for use when performing both routine maintenance and complete overhauls on the MH-60 Jayhawk, and can be used on all models of the Black Hawk.

The Jim Charlson Aviation Safety Award, sponsored by Airbus Helicopters, recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to the overall enhancement, development and promotion of aviation safety. Metro Aviation congratulates Helicopter Flight Training Center director Terry Palmer on receiving the 2015 Jim Charlson Award.

PAC International, a Metro Aviation company, continues to improve its refurbishment capabilities. The company recently completed installation of a Clemco Industries Industrial Blast Facility. Utilizing a variety of soft, yet abrasive media for removal of paint and corrosion, the new addition is yet another improvement to the innovative paint facility.

Vector Aerospace announces it has signed a three-year contract with the Anaheim Police Department to provide MRO support for its Airbus Helicopters AS350B2 components.

Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) has completed its Entry Into Service (EIS) process for the new PW210A engine which will power the AgustaWestland AW169. The first delivery is imminent.
