TASK DESCRIPTION:

Aircraft Mechanic III (23023): Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported. Capable of performing, supervising and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs. A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required. Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:- All Aircraft Mechanic IIIs must have Aviation Mechanic Experience and not just general maintenance experience.

TASK REQUIREMENTS:

  • May perform duties as Lead or Technical Inspector as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneumatic, hydraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as fuselage and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, rivet gun and drills.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Perform phase, scheduled, unscheduled, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.
  • Use chemical treatment process to etch and alodine parts.
  • Use chemical sealants.
  • Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system ULLS-A (E).
  • Lead and direct small maintenance teams.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • H-60, H-64, H-47 or H-72 qualification and/or experience.
  • Five to ten years leadership experience.
  • Eight or more yearsrsquo; rotary wing experience.
  • Familiarity and ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity and ability to use military tech manuals.
  • Familiarity and ability to use Standard Army Management Information Systems i.e. ULLS-A (E).
  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a graduate of one of the following Military Aviation Powertrain and/or General Repair, Hydraulic, Engine, Avionics and Sheet Metal Qualification Courses or civilian equivalent.
  • At least five years of experience on military rotorcraft.
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift schedule as required.
  • Must be able to work flexible work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Tues-Sat, Sun-Th or as required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to obtain a favorable National Agency Check.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools.
  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.
  • Compensation
    $37.18/hour

    Other Compensation
    Employees who opt out of health insurance coverage receive $50.00 on a bi-weekly basis.

    Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
