Universal Synaptics Corp. announces that its Intermittent Fault Detection & Isolation System (IFDIS™) was selected as the Great Ideas Competition winner at the 2010 Department of Defense Maintenance Symposium and Exhibition. The DoD Maintenance Symposium and Exhibition is the premier annual event for DoD maintainers and their industry counterparts.

The Great Ideas Competition provides a forum for the sharing of new and innovative ideas relative to maintenance technologies and processes. Universal Synaptics Corp was one of six finalists selected from all eligible Great Ideas submissions for the opportunity of participating in the competition.

Participants in this year’s Great Ideas Competition included Penn State’s Applied Research Laboratory, StandardAero, the Michigan Research Institute, GFM, the Boeing Company and Universal Synaptics Corporation.

“All the participants in this year’s Great Ideas Competition did an excellent job presenting their ideas and technological achievements” said Ken Anderson, Universal Synaptics Vice President of Sales & Business Development. “To be voted as the winner is an honor. The recognition of the Intermittent Fault Detection & Isolation System from our peers in the Department of Defense maintenance community as a real and viable solution to reduce NFF and improve system reliability is as significant as it is gratifying. This is a great win for Universal Synaptics and all the IFDIS™ team members from prime contractor, Total Quality Systems and Hill Air Force Base.”
