Previously, the R22 used an oil pressure-activated meter which records all engine run time. The new collective-activated meter records collective uptime (flight time) and does not include engine warm up and cool down time.

Dallas Avionics is now a distributor of Avion Power’s Voyager Power Source. The Voyager is designed to start aircraft engines and provide auxiliary power. On a single charge, a Voyager provides 10 or more turbine engine starts, powers on-board electronics for an hour, or provides a combination of auxiliary power and starting power. Voyager is available in 10Ah and 20Ah capacities that weigh 9 or 15 pounds, respectively; they can be stowed on-board and recharged in-flight. Voyager’s useful life is approximately ten years or 2000 charge cycles; self-discharge is less than 3% per month; it has no memory; and it is maintenance-free.

Bio-Circle, a division of Walter Surface Technologies, a leader in surface treatment technologies, announces the launch of three new bio-renewable parts cleaning systems to its portfolio of products: CleanBox Compact S, CleanBox Maxi, and the CleanBox Mega. These new systems bring Bio-Circle’s eco-innovation to larger industrial parts washing processes.

Finmeccanica announces that the fleet of 26 AgustaWestland AW189 super medium twin engine helicopters, in service with customers across four continents, has exceeded 10,000 flight hours. Raj Helweg, chief pilot of Air Methods, is named the new industry co-chairman of the United States Helicopter Safety Team (www.ushst.org). The USHST was formed in 2013 as a regional partner within the International Helicopter Safety Team (www.IHST.org) to lead a government and industry cooperative effort to promote safety and work to reduce civil helicopter accidents and fatalities.

Airbus Helicopters’ H145 is back in Asia to showcase its performance and capabilities through a series of demo flights in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Taiwan. The first H145 demo tour was held in Southeast Asia in 2013, covering Malaysia and Thailand. Since then, there has been an increasing interest in this rotorcraft, especially in the emergency medical services (EMS) and commercial/business aviation segments.

Titan Tool Supply, Inc., of Buffalo, NY, announces the introduction of its new line of TVT Series videoscopes to provide high-quality remote visual inspections for quality control. Lower in cost than comparable videoscopes, the new TVT line includes five different models with working lengths from 1m (40”) to 3m (118”) and three diameters (2.8mm, 4.5mm and 6mm). Titan Tool states that the 2.8mm diameter model enables inspections through extremely small openings. The videoscopes are designed for use in aviation maintenance, casting inspection, cavity inspection, diesel engine repair, gasoline engine repair, locomotive maintenance, ship maintenance, and other areas and application where remote visual inspection is needed.

Heli-One, the world’s largest independent provider of helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, completes the 9,000-hour G check on an H225 for a major operator in the North Sea. The maintenance was performed at Heli-One’s Stavanger facility in Norway and marks the first major H225 inspection for that operator.
