Top Reasons to Visit Helitech International 2017

Helitech International, the largest civil rotorcraft show in Europe, will be bustling with the latest, cutting-edge technology at the ExCeL London this year. The industry’s biggest names, Bell HelicopterAirbus Helicopters and Leonardo are all bringing their latest aircraft to the show, which will be complemented by a wide range of innovative technologies from avionics suites to VR.

Every year, the role technology plays in our lives grows and grows, and the rotorcraft industry is no different. The evolution of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has seen them become a valuable addition to all operators’ fleets, especially within the SAR and HEMS sectors. This has been further supported by their ability to operate in treacherous situations without endangering human lives – numerous incidents this year have garnered support for more integration looking forwards.

Meanwhile, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) have become increasingly important in training and safety, and developments in avionics has improved mission safety.

Big Names Arrive

The industry’s leading OEMs will be showcasing their latest rotorcraft, with Bell Helicopter bringing a Bell 429 helicopter to host visitors on its stand. Airbus Helicopters will also be presenting a full-scale model of its H160 prototype helicopter on the indoor static display – the most recent edition of the H-series – with configurations being developed for offshore transportation, business and private aviation (PBA), public services, and commercial passenger transport. Furthermore, the Airbus presence will include an EMS-configured H145 and a PBA H125 on its stand.

Take a Trip Across Reality

Euravia, who provides support for the Rolls Royce M250, will be using virtual reality (VR) technology to give visitors the chance to have a 360 tour around its facility in Phoenix, AZ. In addition to this, visitors will also be able to take a look around the Airbus H160 via an interactive VR experience.

Lighting Up the Future

On the vision front, ASU Inc. is bringing its AVS9 night vision goggles along which visitors can test out for themselves. Not only is ASU Inc. bringing the latest variant of its eyewear, it’s also showcasing its night vision imaging system and lighting modifications for compatibility with night vision. Bringing more illumination to the ExCeL next week, Flight Light, who specialise in ground-based lighting, will show off its latest systems.

Safety First

In line with the focus on improving safety and optimising operations within the SAR and HEMS sectors, Switlik will have its survival suit on stand for visitors to inspect close up. Further to this, Airbus will have its in-house designed avionics suits – Helionix – fitted to an H135 on the indoor static display. Driving avionics technology forward, Helionix, offers exceptional safety standards and mission flexibility via its situational awareness system, terrain awareness system and human-machine interface.

Teresa Heitor, event manager of Helitech International says, “It is fantastic to see such a range of innovative developments across the industry on show for visitors this year. From the latest aircraft manufactured by the global players, to the smaller businesses that are driving change through their technological prowess and innovation, visitors will find technology that will enhance their operations.

“In addition to what our exhibitors bring along this year, we placed a real focus on the conference programme to make sure that the Insight Seminars and Technical Sessions are topical, engaging and informative.”
