FSF Seeking Nominations for Leadership and Innovation Awards

Nominations are now open for Flight Safety Foundation’s Jerome Lederer Safety Leadership Medal and the David Morrison Innovation Award. Both awards will be presented during a special awards dinner held in conjunction with the Foundation’s 79th annual International Aviation Safety Summit (IASS 2026) scheduled for Nov. 10–12 in Montreal.
The Jerome Lederer Safety Leadership Medal recognizes an individual or team for making a significant contribution to the advancement of civil-aviation safety through demonstrated organizational or industry leadership and by developing or advancing programs that will have a lasting impact on aviation. Selection criteria include the nominee’s role as a strong champion of safety information-sharing and an advocate of developing and promoting safety standards, as well as receiving broad recognition as a safety leader.
The David Morrison Innovation Award recognizes an individual, a team or an organization for notable technological innovation or process transformation in civil aviation. As part of the selection process, the Foundation would like to understand how the need was identified, what went into designing and developing the innovation or process change, and how collaboration played a role.
Lederer and Morrison were among the group of innovators who launched the Foundation in 1945.
The deadline for submitting nominations for both awards is July 8, 2026. More information on the awards and how to submit nominations is available at https://flightsafety.org/foundation/aviation-awards.
IASS 2026 is scheduled for Nov. 10–12 in Montreal. Registration for IASS 2026 will open in June. Visit https://flightsafety.swoogo.com/IASS2026 for more information and to register.
