NBAA, Others Urge Senate to Confirm Michael Whitaker as FAA Administrator

NBAA, along with a coalition of industry groups, sends a letter to members of the U.S. Senate urging the swift confirmation of Michael Whitaker as FAA administrator.

In the Sept. 13 letter, aviation groups also called on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and Senate leadership to expedite the passage of an FAA Reauthorization bill.

“This is a critical and transformative time for the aviation industry. To keep pace, the FAA needs permanent leadership and clear direction,” the stakeholders write to Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Ted Cruz (R-TX).

“A completed FAA Reauthorization bill and a confirmed administrator in 2023 will contribute in a substantial fashion to strengthening the agency’s efforts in advancing safety, efficiency, infrastructure, and innovation, supporting the FAA’s workforce, and enhancing the jobs and global competitiveness of the U.S. aviation industry,” stakeholders write.
