HAI announces it is now accepting nominations for its annual Salute to Excellence Awards program. These awards recognize superior achievement across the rotorcraft industry and are open to individuals, teams or organizations who work with helicopters and remotely piloted aircraft systems (drones or UAS). Nominations can be submitted at rotor.org/salute. HAI must receive all nominations by Thurs., Sept. 30, 2021.

The board of directors for Helicopter Association International (HAI) is seeking candidates to fill the role of special advisor – UAS for the term of Jul. 1, 2021, to Jun. 30, 2022. Applicants will be a rotorcraft professional with experience in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) who is interested in giving back to the community.

Helicopter Association International (HAI) announces the University of Maryland UAS Test Site Team, led by director Matt Scassero, and University of Maryland Medical Center’s Dr. Joseph Scalea are the 2021 recipients of the association’s Golden Hour Award. The award recognizes the efforts of an individual, group or organization that, through a particular activity or contributions over time, has advanced the use of helicopters or UAS aircraft in the vital mission of air medical transport.

Helicopter Association International (HAI) announces life-long maintenance professional David Fox is the 2021 recipient of the association’s Maintenance Excellence Award. The award, sponsored by Rolls-Royce, recognizes an individual for long-standing excellence in rotorcraft maintenance, maintenance instruction or supervision, or a single significant contribution to rotorcraft maintenance.

Helicopter Association International (HAI) responds to the May 19, 2020, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) board hearing on the cause of a Jan. 2019 crash of a helicopter air-ambulance (HAA) flight in Ohio. HAI appreciates the extraordinary efforts made by the investigative team in determining the myriad factors that led to the accident, which took the lives of three people who were on a mission to save lives. HAI offers its deepest condolences to the families, friends and co-workers of those lost in the accident.
